For the uninitiated, un-vented cylinders like the one pictured above are like pressure cookers. They are usually found in small offices such as the one above to supply hot water to bathroom or kitchen basins. Unfortunately, being under pressure they could explode if not for a safety valve located on the top of the unit. But what happens if the Pressure Relief Valve pops open with someone standing nearby?

The answer is plumbing junk! When we were called to sort out a leaking and moving shower the poor workmanship didn’t end with just ill fitting doors and a poorly installed shower tray. The entire unit was poorly installed at every level. Read the rest of this entry »

Date: Aug 2008

Description: Our client asked us to remove an old low level ceramic sink unit and replace it with something that was easier for the staff to use. We installed a new unit with a stainless steel sink and matching mono tap. A much more appealing look and the staff don’t have to hunch over to use the sink. Read the rest of this entry »

Berserk pipe work quirk

This pipe work and the cables were boxed in behind a panel in a rental we went to look at recently. I would have hidden this work too if I had done it!! In fact I would have hidden the pipe work, changed my identity and moved far away as well. What kind of jerk would go to the effort of making this mess when a clean and tidy job would have taken about the same time or less? Read the rest of this entry »

Walk in Shower Replacement

Location: Haddfield, Glossop, Stockport

Date: July 2008

Description: The original en suite shower unit had been installed incorrectly in a number of ways. The base moved around when the client stood in the shower and the doors where mounted incorrectly. Also, the flexible waste pipe used was of very poor quality and destined for future leakage problems.

We removed the old shower which was mostly held in by silicone caulking! We trimmed the tiles in situ to enable us to fit the new high quality tray without damaging the tiles. Once the base was levelled and secure we connected a new waste pipe and tested for leaks. The doors were then installed and everything caulked to make it waster proof. Read the rest of this entry »
